Derelict House

The house was located on the left side of a small, narrow street, where both sides were fully overgrown with an abundance of wild trees, grass, and weeds - it was as though they were all neglected properties being left for years.  The two-storied house itself was small, it had a triangular-shaped roof, a dirty, muddy, rusted colour on the cracked walls that seemed to collapse. A rusted roof falling apart with holes in it all over it, windows were not too small, there were three of them, all closed with a plank from the inside. The entrances were on the ground floor, the doors by themselves not present; a dark purplish wall could be overseen through the inside, rubble was heaped in the entrance of one of them and the grassy weeds prevented anyone from stepping in. One of the three windows were on the up floor, a door with a tiny balcony in front of it, some plank that had fallen was stuck in-between the balcony and door- as if it was thrown away by the furious wind. Thin and green, a t

A place I never want to return to

A descriptive text from the perspective of a little child as he is taken with his grandfather to a forest in the village, in search of the witch who is supposed to cure everybody's problems and sicknesses. It was in an overgrown, dim forest, at the corner of it a vague shadowy hut was overseen. The path had been created perhaps through the years of carriages and people passing by it, there weren't any huts around the forest -  so we assumed it would be the one we were in search of. Close by, I could sense I didn't belong there, I felt like grabbing my grandad's hand and darting out. It was a tiny odd-shaped muddy-coloured hut, with a cluster of palm leaves placed above it to form a secure roof, uneven, rough, mud walls surrounding it - fully covered in moss that made it look awfully damp and enough to collapse on one of us. Trudging toward the hut, I tiptoed continuously, as red ants scampered all along the path vigorously trying to capture a bite from my feet. All I c

Handmade Mosque Book Nook

Image
Ù±Ù„سَّÙ„َامُ عَÙ„َÙŠْÙƒُÙ…ْ This is another book nook we made inspired by our  first one , the idea was originally by Khadijah and we just love how it turned out! Alhammdulilah We tried to make it look as elegant and neat as possible,  in order to achieve that look we thought gold would go well.                                            The mic was created with an earbud, we cut the lower part in order that it wouldn't be  too long and attached a tiny circle of brown foam so it can stand, then we painted the upper part black so that it would look similar to a mic. The door was from an earbud set's lid. The name of this mosque is مسجد الإحسان (Masjid Al Ihsan). .. All the tiny adorable Arabic calligraphy  was done by Hanah, mashaAllah. Alhamdulilah! We are super happy to realize that everything was totally handmade  and we are very satisfied with the results. Assalamualykum ;)

Customizing Wooden Pen Holders

Image
Ù±Ù„سَّÙ„َامُ عَÙ„َÙŠْÙƒُÙ…ْ It's  Khadijah here, We have another exciting craft we customized recently, walking into the craft shop I noticed an ordinary however cute set of penholders lying on the shelf, and we fell in love with them immediately knowing that we could customize them and we could picture how they would look! Here's how it looked initially :  It was quite plain and not interesting, so I came up with the idea of night and sunrise themed, the starry/night themed one is the cat pen holder as cats are up at night whilst the sunrise one is the  giraffe  one as they graze early morning. Here's the after :                                 Wassalam

Handmade Cafe Book Nook

Image
Assalamualykum everyone! It's Hanah here. Recently a friend suggested the idea of making a book nook together, we had never heard of that name and it sounded interesting to us and so we got motivated to create one, so after two days of crafting Alhammdulilah this is how it turned out to be! The name 'KASHA' is the initials and second letters of three of our names, We didn't use store-bought accessories instead, we crafted and designed the furniture and décor. The adorable mini food on the shelves was crafted by our talented cousin, using polymer clay. Here is it on the bookshelf : The charming food served on the table was made by our friend, it includes a pizza, a slice of it and spaghetti with meatballs (Though she's a vegetarian). We hope you got inspired and motivated to create something like this as well.

My Nightmare Landscape

My nightmare landscape :   It was almost difficult to see through the murky, dull overcast. My eyes flickered. I tried to concentrate - my body didn't feel balanced and my brain was foggy. The ground was vast, full of withered greyish leaves, pilled up, thick brawny roots creeped through, they looked as if they had hands that would appear to reach me out - with those long rooty fingers, and grab me through. I stumbled. Tried to clench one of the old, sturdy barks.  A path had been made through, as long as my eyes could foresee - I tried to follow it faithfully. A bitter, cold breeze swirled through the landscape, uplifting every leaf below -  strands of the hairs on my skin straightened. Onto the right of the path a tire swing was tied to one of the trees - it was swinging, in obscure patterns. Blocking the pathway - a humungous, withered, ancient brown tree was leaning over, about to collapse in a jiff. I crouched my back and crept under as the leaves tickled my spine.  From a di

Stolid Grandmother

She is genial in her own ways, It is shown in obscure traits, Yet- you could sense it distinctively. Certain behaviors make her loathe others,  Such as being delinquent, disobedient, or disorderly. If  she notices one's good courtesy, Even if she's beyond merry - A compliment you wouldn't hear... It's rare. But at heart, she's more than pleased. It's seldom to hear praise of happiness for a meal prepared with delight and care, Again, it's rare. She praises you in her heart. Her feelings are unknown. Never to be put out. That's my grandmother. - Khadijah Dilshad

Upcycling An Old Cardboard Box

Image
Assalamuaykum,   Our plushies have been homeless, they don't tend to stand by themselves so we can't keep them just for decor to stand alone, so we found an old cardboard box that we used originally to store craft supplies, and up cycled it into a cute home for them to sit in. The box :                                           We cut the un - neat parts :                                           And Voila! The name might sound a bit funny, but the name 'Ribbunny' originates from Ribbon + Bunny = Ribbunny, as they are the main characters. The cat Kith however is based on an adorable pet we had in Oman. Hope you got some inspiration to up cycle some old stuff of yours, see you next time, InshaAllah. Assalamualikum.

The Transformation Of A Tiny Teapot!

Image
Ù±Ù„سَّÙ„َامُ عَÙ„َÙŠْÙƒُÙ…ْ It's Khadijah here. We visited a clay pot shop to purchase a pot  for a craft project  and came across an adorable tiny teapot, it caught my sister's attention and she immediately showed me, I, of course, fell in love with it and got it with the mindset that I'll use it for some cute craft. These pots are generally clay oil lamps, however, my sister suggested  making a small miniature garden inside it.  We used a tiny polymer clay house that was pre-made by our talented cousin, it was dessert-themed but we painted over it to provide a natural old look. After filling the pot with soil, we added the tiny weeny house and little fence that got invisible due to the forest in the background. We, of course, put little plants from fake flowers from our grandma, which definitely spiced up the whole thing. I also painted some plants with my desired choice of colours. Finally my sister made a tiny ladder to climb the teapot garden so the little humans can get
