The Vain Theft

Image
nathan-wright-igpwuxZofgo-unsplash.jpg The room was pitch—black. Towering shadows danced frantically on the cracked bathroom door. The low ceiling was covered with their skeletal fingers that awaited to grasp Kayla and tear her apart. They threatened her. They frightened her and tormented her pitiful soul. Turning five was not something to be proud of, after all. It meant you were too big to sleep beside Mommy and that you were responsible for deterring spirits who lurk and linger around you at midnight. Since last week’s memorable birthday party, Kayla never felt safe when the clock struck nine at night. “On the bed, Kay!” the frightful command goes, followed by echoes of ghastly phantoms who seek to torture the shivering timid child. Kayla hid under her quilt and pretended to feel Mommy’s comforting warmth. She imagined Mommy’s tender touch and longed for an escape from the ruthless situation. Despite her attempt to battle her fears, they pierced their blade-like fingers through her ...

My Dream House

The house was large and rectangular, its structure determined that it was designed with much diligence. It stood in the center of an immaculate lawn, surrounded by common lilacs and Azaleas trimmed in bushes, bright - colored and vibrant -  creating a vivid and lively atmosphere. The subtle and soft fragrance of blooming flowers, breezy wind that encircled through made them swing and dance all along in different directions. A big, naturally carved pond was found in the corner, it had impressive, eye-catching, lively koi fish that swam through. Attractive garden chairs surrounded the big, wooden, table with an exquisite glass top. Sturdy light grey bricked walls surrounded the garden, the graceless bougainvilleas peered through the wall and reclined on it. A tall, broad, rectangular building stood connected to the right of the wall, it was built with luxurious precious stones that shone upon reflecting the sunlight, Tall, huge glossy French - windows gleamed, and the tilled steps th...

A summary of the discovery of the sub - atomic particles

Image
Photo by Norbert Kowalczyk on Unsplash The first of the sub atomic particle to be discovered in the atom was the electron. Physicists had learned to control and create electrical flows, however, to discover what electricity was, it required the separation of the properties of electricity from the wire or material which was impractical because when electricity flows through the wire or other material that creates an electric charge, it is impossible to separate the two. The method that could be executed in order to separate electricity from the particular materials that hold it was by studying the flow of electricity through a vacuum or near a vacuum. In 1858 Johann Geissler's invention of the improved air pump made it possible to extract sufficient air from a glass tube creating a near-vacuum in the tube. The Crookes tube contained a glass tube with a near-vacuum and a wire that carried along an electric current at one end called a cathode and at the other end, a positively charge...

Concealed Quest

Image
An outline of a quest story. Photo by Raimond Klavins on Unsplash Henry Fox was a 17 - year-old determined teenager who grew up with his grandmother. He lived an ordinary life of unpleasant occurrences and was mostly a dejected person until, after ongoing squabbles, he inherited his great grandfather's valuable, beyond price treasure that consisted of 95 pairs of gemstones, and many blue diamonds, also a map to another valuable treasure.  Before death, Henry was lucky enough to hear one of the last statements of his wise great grandfather at a young age when he requested Henry to vow to him in honesty that he will never let his relatives know that he inherited this treasure. Quite unfortunate for him, but after the death of his great grandfather, Henry came to an awareness that two of his past comrades had turned against him, Marlin and Edward. The two untrustworthy boys had accompanied Henry whilst he heard this advice from his great grandfather, to Henry's astonishment they ...

Black Beetle

Image
free - verse beetle poem inspired by 'Baby tortoise' by D.H Lawrence   Tiny black beetle, you move so gently, gripping the surface with your slightly bent curves of your six legs,  wobbling slightly, chubby soot-black beetle... your abdomen shacking...your furry legs take you on voyages, through the mossy surfaces that clog your legs a little... hard roots, making you bob up and down. you're crouched back, and lowered head with lovely antennas of separated orange-coloured sections of three, so detailed... Dark, smooth chocolate. Innocent, bottom furry one... your body sliced smoothly into three, largest to smallest,  oh so gentle, tiny black beetle.

The Finals

Image
"We have undergone so much. Homo sapiens they are called? For what wisdom - do they even own?" he said as his luminous crown twitched vigorously. ''Enough, they think using their 'power' will stop us?'' he continued, "Despotism. Using that sort of 'power'!".  His face was unhappy and he sulked over every minute that passed by. He had known the hidden abilities that his team possessed but the fear of the future overcame every thought.  In a deep breath of two, certainty stuck the core. It wasn't the last minute, more was to come, for humankind was clueless and the future had to change. And that's how it all began... In 2019, December, in China's city Wuhan, in a very or absolute unknown world, more than what the naked eye was to see, in the unknown world of viruses, troops and troops, billions and billions, of red triangular crowned viruses with light gray bodies, and others with long blue crowns - most of them varying in c...

Are Science Experiments And The Modern World Leading Towards Animal Torture?

Image
Science and our modern world As our modern world becomes more civilized as well as sophisticated, the world of Science proves to broaden along with it.   No doubt we are living in a world that interconnects with the help of  Technology and Science, these two factors have impacted greatly on our society, where education is widespread and knowledge is provided without limits. Scientists continue to research, test, and evaluate current situations around the world, they try to find a solution for each mystery and present it to the desperate humankind begging for a way out.  Scientists have been carrying out experiments for decades and decades, some of which are essential and others that are unwanted and create more damage to humans and animals. The ultimate purpose of science is to figure out puzzles within the world and universe, where we finally devise a solution to help it out. Even so, as humans predominantly depend on scientists, the iniquitous group of scienti...

Fascinating Falcons

Image
Emirates consider falcons as a symbol of Pride and Heredity  Beduin in The United Arab Emirates and the wider Arabian Peninsula have been practicing falconry and carrying it from generation after generation. This was mainly practiced as an important form of hunting in the desert.  Today Falconry is one of UAE's most honored sports as it has a strong link to heritage, courage, culture, and strength. Hunting with falcons is banned in UAE however, the sport is widely practiced.  Eager to preserve the traditional and cultural heritage of falconry, the UAE's royal families are taking steps to keep falconry alive and thrive for the younger generation of emirates.  There are many programs that release wild falcons back to nature such as the  Sheikh Zayed Falcon Release Programme,  where the medical inspection is done by the  Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital. By rehabilitating those wild falcons for release. Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin ...

Sri Lankan elephants face life threats due to human activities

Image
Dear Supporter The main causes of animal extinction are due to human activities and populated lands. Today the Sri Lankan elephant has been listed as endangered by the IUCN, International Union for Conservation of Nature. Sri Lanka has the highest population of wild Asian elephants worldwide, relatively native to Sri Lanka. The complication of elephant extinction would create a major unstable effect on the Island, causing unbalanced natural ecosystems which result in many other animals' death due to the effect of it. The elephant species have declined in numbers because of human-elephant conflicts causing numerous deaths, injuries, and outrages. The natural environments of elephants are cut down and destroyed for purposes like agriculture, infrastructure, and urbanization which have led elephants to move into agricultural lands feeding on crops and vegetation. This causes a great infuriation for farmers as they rely on income through vegetation, fruits, and many crops. Farmers and ...

Crickets

Image
Crickets. Crickets silent, crickets chirp on. Crickets chirpy sound on. So familiar, because I've heard it since I was born. O, now it's mute, What can I say about them? They are or ugly nor cute. Nor pretty as a sparkly gem. They are simply familiar, but not as a grasshopper. I remember not knowing what they were. So I screamed hitting it with a mopper. Thinking back,  I'm not sure whether I've known crickets since I was born.                                           Because then I wouldn't have hit it- oh smack.                                 But, yes but. I do remember the familiarity as it walked past my lorn.                                                   ...

The Endless steppe

Image
I was told to continue an extract from the story the endless steppe, by Esther Hautzig, here's how it went. The following day, in the morning before sunrise, I woke up with a blood-curdling dream. Heart pounding. I sat for a while thinking of the moments of horror in my dream when suddenly I remembered yesterday's school day. I sighed to myself, trying to recall what I planned the night before. "This time, I'm not going to be a poor victim again," I told myself while getting off my sleeping mat. I had believed in myself, I am strong. Three giants that had been daunting me all night would not be able to do so by this very day. I ate my oats and in a jiff, I took my academic possessions and quickly picked a couple of berries around 5, and a handful of apricots and cherries and wrapped it in a small cloth bundle, and headed to school. While walking on the frosty roads, I was reminding my self the Russian alphabet, repeating it time by time. I noticed the more I rep...

Night.

Image
Night The hushed serene night is dull and soundless.     Noiseless, peaceful.                                                     The darkness of soot-black spreads through,   None is up, except a few. The lonesome owl hoots, Rain pours down into the trees' roots, The little bird's nests are warm and cozy.  The outside lights are dim and mothy.    Cats wait to catch their prey,       While mice scurry down a pile of hay. The tranquil night passes by,      As the vibrant stars light the sky,         As a decoration fo...
