Childhood memories

I was told to do a school project, that was two pages long, it had to be a childhood memory of school from the narrator or from a friend or a movie clip moment that was an unforgettable experience, either the first day to a new school or just an experience that had strong emotions involved, such as sadness or anger or any deep emotions. Seriousness was not to be mixed with comical statemens and moments because it ruins the 'flavour' of the story . It had to be extremely exaggerated and explained more in detail, but not complicated to read. It also had to have direct speech in the story.  I chose a story based on myself when I was very small, around four years old, an experience that I always remember and laugh to my self. It is comical not serious, but the emotions involved in it is kind of 'strong'. Here you can read it now :🤗 - in a moment of  frustration, not given enough attention for a science project, wanting to label or spell out items,as my past favorite activit

Sri Lankan elephants face life threats due to human activities

Image
Dear Supporter The main causes of animal extinction are due to human activities and populated lands. Today the Sri Lankan elephant has been listed as endangered by the IUCN, International Union for Conservation of Nature. Sri Lanka has the highest population of wild Asian elephants worldwide, relatively native to Sri Lanka. The complication of elephant extinction would create a major unstable effect on the Island, causing unbalanced natural ecosystems which result in many other animals' death due to the effect of it. The elephant species have declined in numbers because of human-elephant conflicts causing numerous deaths, injuries, and outrages. The natural environments of elephants are cut down and destroyed for purposes like agriculture, infrastructure, and urbanization which have led elephants to move into agricultural lands feeding on crops and vegetation. This causes a great infuriation for farmers as they rely on income through vegetation, fruits, and many crops. Farmers and

3 DIY crafts

Asssalamualykum everyone!                   Well...three crafts to show you all and explain how we did them, not a 'DIY' tutorial, but anyway, who cares, Lol. They could be made as decor for any boring or dull place, you'll see how they'll make it look engaging and super creative! let's jump right into the post! Firstly, I have the worst camera, so the pictures look 100 times nicer in real life. :( 1. This one was originally H 's idea, but we made it together. It is a cement vase-like pen holder made by our aunt, we turned it on the other side to make the quirky yet kawaii décor piece! The polymer clay charms on the head of the thingy are all made by our talented cousin, so a huge thank you to her for gifting it to us generously! she's saying hi! Who won't let the little beings say hi too! 2. Again this was Hanah's idea, but I made it this time. The bowl-like thing of the creature named 'co

When I grow up...

Image
When I grow up... When I grow up, I'd wanna be a mother, Nothing to say I'd be rather. Just to be that forever, A decision nothing but cleaver. Changing those nappies, Will surely make me happy. And when the years go by, When I'm fed up with those horrible cries, When my child is all grown up, She'll be ready to give me a big hug, For that which I've done, For simply being a lovely mum.

Crickets

Image
Crickets. Crickets silent, crickets chirp on. Crickets chirpy sound on. So familiar, because I've heard it since I was born. O, now it's mute, What can I say about them? They are or ugly nor cute. Nor pretty as a sparkly gem. They are simply familiar, but not as a grasshopper. I remember not knowing what they were. So I screamed hitting it with a mopper. Thinking back,  I'm not sure whether I've known crickets since I was born.                                           Because then I wouldn't have hit it- oh smack.                                 But, yes but. I do remember the familiarity as it walked past my lorn.                                                                                                                                  Maybe......                                                                             Yes, Maybe...                                                I should let a cricket be with me.

A Math Sum

Image
Head leaning on knees,  hand-dying for rescue,  eyes blinking in confusion. Pen shaking, Mind recking. Brain quivering Trembling. Confusion with blurriness. ... Once the brain rolls from the stairs, O, yes! Studying from where? Upstairs! Just let me know who even cares? Neuron breaking into bits from that mind-boggling sight, it breaks from all those hits. The room was bright, Yes, it was, yes, it has, from all what? A math sum. - Khadijah Dilshad

The Endless steppe

Image
I was told to continue an extract from the story the endless steppe, by Esther Hautzig , here's how it went. The following day, in the morning before sunrise, I woke up with a blood-curdling dream. Heart pounding. I sat for a while thinking of the moments of horror in my dream when suddenly I remembered yesterday's school day. I sighed to myself, trying to recall what I planned the night before. "This time, I'm not going to be a poor victim again," I told myself while getting off my sleeping mat. I had believed in myself, I am strong. Three giants that had been daunting me all night would not be able to do so by this very day. I ate my oats and in a jiff, I took my academic possessions and quickly picked a couple of berries around 5, and a handful of apricots and cherries and wrapped it in a small cloth bundle, and headed to school. While walking on the frosty roads, I was reminding my self the Russian alphabet, repeating it time by time. I noticed the more I re

Night  The hushed serene night is dull and soundless.      Noiseless, peaceful.                                                      The darkness of soot-black spreads through,   none is up, except a few. The lonesome owl hoots,  Rain pours down through a sloot. The little bird's nests are warm and cozy.  The outside lights are dim and mothy.    Cats wait to catch their prey,       While mice scurry down a brae. The tranquil night passes by,      As the vibrant stars light the sky,         as a decoration for the charming heavens. The hushed night is dull and soundless.     Dark and dull of raven black. - Khadijah Dilshad

اليوم الوطني العماني

Image
اليوم الوطني العماني National Day of Oman The national day of Oman is an official public holiday dated November 18th.  The holiday currently celebrates the birthday of the previous sultan of Oman, Sultan Qaboos bin Said, who reigned from 1970 to 2020.    The background of this holiday is mainly to celebrate the independence from Portugal control in 1650. The national activities are held for two days, due to the 19th of November  being the birthday of Sultan Qaboos bin Said. National day activities usually include parades, camel races, a horse show, and once every five years a military exhibition drill.                                                                                                                                The holiday gives the Omanis the opportunity to return to their home villages, and see friends and family. Red, green, and white are the main colors of this day because the flag consists of these colors which symbolize special meanings.

Dear Hongwei...

Dear Hongwei, I'm so glad to hear about your favorite festival of the year, your letter was so interesting and informative. I really hope you thoroughly enjoyed yourself and received many gifts from your friends! Well, I decided to let you know a little bit about my favorite feast of the year so that we both can relate to each other how special these moments are for each of us. My favorite feast of the year is Eid, where our homes are decorated with greetings and banners with balloons. It is when we as Muslims celebrate after fasting for 30 days! I wouldn't necessarily call it a feast, it is more of a celebration. We make many desserts and dishes that are very special, every one of the family cooperates to make different dishes. In every part of different countries that celebrate Eid, people celebrate it in their own unique way but according to the Islamic culture and country traditions.  Usually, we as a family start the day around  4;30, thereon we do our prays, and tidy our

Re-cycled items into crafts..

Image
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله Khadijah here. Alhammdulilah I made these little crafts from household materials I found, it was very interesting to re-cycle them. These were made from an extremely old cloth bag that my older sister had when she was a baby. Mama samosa Papa samosa big-eyed baby samosa This is Ollie - the fifth member of our family, she is a six-month-old kitten that we picked up from the streets. These plushies were mainly made for her - she thankfully loves them (papa samosa best, for no reason!)  and really enjoys playing with them. Using the wood pieces that always comes in a canvas packaging, I made this sign that is pasted in front of our door. Home sweet home inspired. This was a filter initially, I turned it into a pot and planted Basil plants. Saplings of Holy basil (Tulsi) in a DIY filter bag pot wrapped with twine Perhaps you remember we said long ago we'll show the  patterned paper wall posters  project, it was finished some months ago. The shades of red...  Red .................................................................................  Red is the lipstick that girls wear.  Cherry is my adorable teddy bear.  Rose are those cheeks that are squeezed.  Ruby are those lips when mom is pleased.  Blush is her face when she isn't pardoned.  Crimson are those lovely roses in my garden.  Tart is when that skin got atopy.  Scarlett are those lovely poppies.  Maroon is that handsome shirt.  Rufous is the color of the tiny hummingbird. The things that I think Grey is associated with... Grey Grey is the little cheeky kitten.  Grey is the winter woolen mittens.  Grey is the collage school bag.  Grey is the old throw away rag.  Grey is the rain that falls down.  Grey is the face of one who loses his crown.  Grey is the mind of the one with depression.  Grey is one that has a phenomenal obsession.

TikTok - an advantage or threat to society?

Image
On Dec 3,2018, an article was posted on BBC titled "TikTok, a Chinese video app, brings fun back to social media" written by Kevin Roose. This article refutes his post and explains the 'dark' side which many people wouldn't like to hear or admit about this video app that's so popular on social media, note that it's my personal opinion about it. Kevin Roose explains the 'wonderful' feeling he experienced after downloading TikTok and watching its videos.  " About an hour after downloading TikTok, the popular video-sharing app, I experienced a bizarre sensation, one I haven’t felt in a long time while on the internet. The knot in my chest loosened, my head felt injected with helium, and the corners of my mouth crept upward into a smile". Throughout the post, he describes TikTok and explains its features that are different from other social media and how this Chinese app has become extremely popular. He states how it brings 'happiness&#

Computers : workers or bosses?

Image
No doubt computers have had a great influence and is a big advantage to our society. Car manufacturing robots are extremely useful and a great advantage to companies. Robots can improve quality and protect workers from dangerous and difficult tasks, and they are highly repeatable and precise and never tire or fail to do their job, they can work on a 24/7 working basis which makes things much faster.  One of the main advantages is that robots prevent a lot of dangerous risks to humans like keeping workers away from exposure to fumes from welding, painting and loud noises or lifting heavy objects from one place to another. They have another advantage that's a powerful asset to car manufacturing companies as robots 'vision' help machines do more precise work using laser and camera array that provides immediate feedback, this makes work more efficient in the assembly line. However, this doesn't mean robots need to take over the car manufacturing industry because humans are
