Dear Hongwei...

 Dear Hongwei,

I'm so glad to hear about your favorite festival of the year, your letter was so interesting and informative. I really hope you thoroughly enjoyed yourself and received many gifts from your friends!

Well, I decided to let you know a little bit about my favorite feast of the year so that we both can relate to each other how special these moments are for each of us.

My favorite feast of the year is Eid, where our homes are decorated with greetings and banners with balloons. It is when we as Muslims celebrate after fasting for 30 days! I wouldn't necessarily call it a feast, it is more of a celebration. We make many desserts and dishes that are very special, every one of the family cooperates to make different dishes. In every part of different countries that celebrate Eid, people celebrate it in their own unique way but according to the Islamic culture and country traditions.

Usually, we as a family start the day around  4;30, thereon we do our prays, and tidy our room a little.  furthermore, we have a shower as early as possible, put on our own new clothes, makeup and are finally ready to start the day.                                                                                                                                        We get into our vehicle and drive to the 'Musallah' (prayer assembly), finishing our Eid prayers there, we greet others with the greeting every one of us should say: ' Thaqabballa mina wa min kum  ' which means may God accept this from you and us.                                                                                                              Elders give kids loads of money and gifts.

At lunchtime we have a lovely meal, thereafter we spend time with friends and family.

Right early before midnight we go for an outing to the park or for some site seeing with balloons and have ice creams.

I hope you have the best day,

' Thaqabballa mina wa min kum  '

yours sincerely,

Khadijah.
